Flat lock soldered copper roofing is excellent on low slope roofs where a long lasting durable roof is desired.

Here is a series of photos showing the details of the copper flat lock roof panel system also known as flat seam copper roofing.
Rectangular cold rolled copper sheets.
One long side and one short side are bent upward approximately 160 degrees to form a 3 4 fold.
Installation is done via using clips to secure the panels down to a roof or wall.
Pre tinning of edges is also available.
Snap lock standing seams should not be used on roofs under 1 5 or 2 12.
However there are many mechanically seamed standing seams that are very appropriate for lower pitch roofs usually down to about 1 4 12 most flat seam products will have soldered seams to make them watertight even on a flat roof.
The flat lock roof starts with a drip edge piece see illustration below.
Thanks for your questions.
Flat lock panels always need to be soldered on flat roofs.
For a roof pitch less than 3 12 a solid membrane roof of some sort is needed.
Panels typically measure 18 x 24 nominal size.
The flat lock panel also makes a wonderful industrial looking wall panel.
However neither solder nor sealant is required in the joints since the vertical surface provides positive drainage.
These panels are ideal for flat roofs domes turrets and any wall panel system interior or exterior.

This type of wall panel is basically identical to flat seam roofing applied on a vertical surface.
One long term solution is a flat lock soldered copper roof.
On a roof the locks are hammered tight and always soldered.
Two adjacent sides of the sheets are folded over and two are folded under to form 3 4 locks.
The field of the roof is then covered with metal pans which can be various standard sizes the most common today is a pan 24 inches x 18 inches.
This can be done using just a few hand tools see list below but the time required can be greatly reduced with the proper sheet metal equipment.
Flat seam roofing is constructed of 18 by 24 20 oz.

Horizontal flat lock systems.
Cold rolled copper are installed in each of the longitudinal and transverse seams.
They are installed by engaging the lower edge of each panel in the upper edge of the panel below and mechanically attaching the panels to supports using concealed clips located under the upper edges of panels.
